Meet our Management team

Joe Nemeth
Joe NemethGeneral & Railway Operations Manager
I aspired to be a signalman but initially pursued engineering. Eventually, I joined British Railways in the 1990s, working as a signalman for nearly seven years before starting my own engineering business in 1997. Today, I run another successful company called Junction Railwayana, whilst my son runs Joe Nemeth Engineering.

The project of SBMR has been a dream of mine for many years, I have built and designed and sold miniature railways over the years, this new railway is a passion of mine which I am fully dedicated to. In the community I have grown up in, I have found memories of the villages history and I believe it is a privilege to bring a little of it back.

I have built a team around me of specialist in their fields who are all passionate about the SBMR, along with them and all my fantastic volunteers, the aim is to make this a ‘model’ railway for future Railways to learn from.

I am a student at the University of Sheffield, studying mechanical engineering. I am currently on an industrial placement for a year at Renishaw, living in Bristol. I was part of the Railway challenge at Sheffield, a team of students who design and build a 10 1/4″ locomotive each year for the competition. Last year, I was manufacturing co-ordinator for our team. We also won the competition for the first time in our teams history. I am very excited to volunteer at the SBMR, and bring all I have learnt from the Railway Challenge to help bring the dream of the SBMR to reality.
